JUPITERS PAN PACIFIC MASTERS 2014
Manning River Dragons headed to the Gold Coast to compete in the Jupiters Pan Pacific Master Games to compete on the weekend of 8th and 9th November. These games are held every 2 years at The Gold Coast and attract more than 14500 competitors, supporters and non playing officials from Australia and the world. There were more than 1,000 teams entered from 42 different sports. This year 22 very keen Manning River Dragons and 2 Masters from Dubbo competed amongst 800 competitors representing Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, ACT, Western Australia and New Zealand. The paddling consisted of 200 metre sprints on 1st day and most paddlers paddled between 8 and 12 times with a lot of races being back to back. Our Great Grand Masters Mixed 10’s paddled in the minor finals. 2nd day were 500 metre sprints and again a lot like 1st day plenty of paddles and lots of fun with Great Grand Masters reaching minor finals. There was a Cancer Survivors Division and 3 from Manning and 1 from Dubbo completed with a team and they came home with Gold. Overall it was a terrific experience with a great bunch of paddlers, we celebrated 2 birthdays and PADDLED HARD and PLAYED HARD! Manning River Dragons host their Regatta on the 24th and 25th January long weekend. There will be other festivities in and around Taree during January so a great time to come along and support our Club. Maureen Pratten Publicity Officer Manning River Dragons
