THE DRUM BEATER
AUGUST 2012 NEWSLETTER OF MRDBC
Hi fellow paddlers,
The sun is shining and its warming up. The Manning River waters are now warm, so come on down and join us paddling. Bring a friend, bring 2 friends, bring MALE friends.
REPAIR OF THE BOAT.
A worker from Stebercraft has kindly offered to look and repair the boat for us. He is happy to continue to advise us on any further care of our boats and do minor repairs for us.
As you are aware we received a grant from the Holiday Coast Credit Union for the purchase of 24 life jackets so we can use them when taking out groups. Thank you Ted for making the hooks to hang them up. A photo will be in the Times soon. Thank you Jennifer, Cathy S, Maureen and Ted for all the time spent resourcing and trialling. They have already been used.
Our website is up and running. Please have a look at it. We are not able to put names down for training at this point in time but this will happen. Thank you Alison for all the hard work already put in.
REPLY FROM COUNCIL RE FUNDING FOR RIVER BANK.
I sent a letter (on behalf of our club) to council re the disgraceful disrepair of the river bank and the funds they received to build a path from the old pool site to town. We wish for money to be used to repair the wall. The funding is specifically for the use of the path. The Council is not responsible for the wall, etc, etc. We will take this further.
Available from Workwise, Elizabeth Ave Taree. There are still some very exclusive hats still available for $5.00 from Cathy S and Deb.( MANNNG) Marg Kurtz is happy to take over the hats. Thank you7, thank you.
We are looking at getting fleecy tops and rain jackets as well.
A reminder of the Regatta Meeting next Tuesday 11th Sept. 2012 at Waterfront Room, Exchange hotel, Manning St. 7.30pm-8.30pm.
MONEY LEFT IN CAGE.
Money from training has been left on the floor of the cage. Please put in the draw of the boat if Cath S is not on board. The Sweep is responsible for the money.(not to go to the pub for a drink).
PUBLICITY OFFICER POSITION VACANT.
The Publicity Officer position is vacant. It will remain vacant until the AGM(end of Oct). The Committee will take over this position until then. See the Committee if you wish to have something published.
Not enough for a team for Mylestom. We have 6 people volunteering. We need to send 2 vollies to each of our southern regattas. We need to learn all jobs so when it is our regatta we know what we are doing(well pretend to know).
We have some first time vollies. Well done. We will have fun, fun, fun.
Thank you Cath S, Jennifer, Trish, Sandi, Catherine C and Me.
Just a reminder. If we don’t go to regattas we won’t be able to paddle at Chinese NY which we all love to go to.
Pan Pacs Training. The paddlers that are going to the Masters Games(pan Pacs) in Qld in Nov are training hard. (in mind as well as in body). We are training at Macksville as well as Taree and Foster with our North Coast team members. Hope you have all registered and don’t forget to pay for your uniforms(on line)
