Welcome to the website for Dragon Boating on the Manning River. Dragon boating is the fastest growing water sport in Australia. Look out on to the Manning River and you might catch a glimpse of the Manning River Dragon Boat Club pushing themselves to the limit in this fast paced, adrenalin pumping sport.

Dragon Boating is a unique sport and attracts people from all walks of life and backgrounds as well as varying degrees of age and fitness.

Learn 2 Paddle Program

Manning River Dragon Boat Club regularly holds Learn 2 Paddle (L2P) sessions for beginners and those who are interested in learning the sport.

Learn to Paddle - Program 4


Manning River Dragon ​ Boat Club is holding a Learn to Paddle program starting on the 18th October 2025. Our Learn2Paddle Program is a great way to start Dragon Boat Racing.

The Club is located inside the Sailing Club on the Manning River (opposite the Rowing Club). We have members (both men and women) aged from 20 to 75 who enjoy the camaraderie and spirit of Dragon Boating. We train, we compete and we have fun.

​Session dates and times:
  • Session 1: 18th October 2025 8:30-9:45am
  • Session 2: 25th October 2025 8:30-9:45am
  • Session 3: 1st November 2025 8:30-9:45am
  • Session 4: 8th November 2025 8:30-9:45am followed by a BBQ.

Our first session will be an introduction to Dragon Boat Paddling and will include a land warm up. The sessions will run from 8:30AM to about 9:45AM. No experience is necessary. 

We will provide your equipment - a life jacket and paddle. 

Please wear sports attire and make sure you have enclosed shoes (that can get a bit wet).

Register at the Manning River Sailing Club, 78 River Street Taree on the day, no prior experience is necessary.

Manning River Dragon Boat Club Community Regatta

Manning River Dragon Boat Club holds a Community outreach event during the annual MRDBC Regatta. This is a good opportunity for members of the community to come down and take part in a few short races. No experience required.
